More fun with James

Attention, Patriots! All Spanish-speakers are now illegal aliens! -- says reasonable conservative James Joyner:

Mark Steyn reports that the only McCain supporters he spotted at CPAC were illegal aliens disguised as college kids:

I arrived at CPAC just before Mitt began to speak and was struck by the number of young student-ish types milling about in McCain T-shirts. While my minder went off to check her coat, I was loafing around the lobby, heard a conversation in Spanish, and noticed it was three of the McCain T-shirted students. Which struck me as odd: you don’t hear a lot of Spanish at CPAC.

That’s about to change, of course, with McCain in charge. It’ll be all Spanish next year, I’m sure.

How one makes the leap from reading about "[I] heard a conversation in Spanish" to "Illegallllzzz!" is all you need to know about the mindset here.

On a side note, if either Joyner or Steyn had any kind of ability or integrity [they're both blogging the convention], they would have approached the three men and asked them about their support for McCain, thus getting information (or evasion -- who knows?) on who they were and what they were doing there. As it is, the intrepid bloggers couldn't even muster that level of initiative, and instead we're left with two buffons accusing John McCain, both implicitly and explicitly, of rounding up illegal aliens to pose as supporters. That's good blogging!

Sympathy for Lady Vengeance

Shorter James Joyner:

On the one hand, Ann Coulter is bad because she says mean things about people. On the other hand, the kids seem to like her, so who am I to judge?
